too much too young

So my twin sons, almost 14, are receiving ridiculously pricey presents of the electronic wizardry type this Christmas. However, I figured out that, as this means I won't be charging around buying masses of extras - books they don't like, clothes they don't like, daft stuff like chocolate reindeers which they might find 'patronising' - it'll actually save me money and make everyone happier in the long run. And I won't be biffing my way down Buchanan Street with hands in shreds from all the carrier bags.

Only... it looks so sad, just one lonesome parcel each under the tree. Especially when their little sister has about 900. So I pick up a few bits and bobs here and there, and keep having to add to the pile as the numbers of parcels aren't quite equal and the one with fewer might perceive himself to be unloved...

Meanwhile, our TV room (which was decorated and newly furnished by J, in an attempt to create a tasteful room for adult relaxation) has now been stolen from us and turned into a teenagers' den and cesspit. So we've decided we need a second TV for the other room. I hate the idea of multiple tellies but we actually never get to watch ours. And I figure that if we're watching DVDs in our own private adult space, then we'll drink less wine. And that, too, will actually will SAVE us money.
